Rules

1. Bingo cards are a 5x5 square with a free space in the middle. Please look through the list of reversed trope prompts before signing up to receive a card. You may veto up to six prompts you do not want to receive on your card. (As of Reverse Bingo 2023, you may also either select or exclude some themes from your bingo card.)2. All types of fanwork media are accepted, including fanfiction, fanart, fanmixes, cosplay, icons, gifsets, fanvideos, and anything else you might want to do. There is no minimum or maximum for any type of fanwork. Have fun and be creative!3. You can create fanworks focusing on single characters or multiple characters, whether gen or shippy. You do not need to follow a theme for characters or ships in your fanwork when making a bingo.4. SFW and NSFW content is allowed. Please include appropriate tags and content warnings for your fanwork.5. You can post and share your fanwork as you create it! You don't need to wait to make a bingo first. You can post your work to the AO3 Collection, or you can post onto twitter and either use the #sk8bingo or tag us at @sk8bingo!6. Once you've completed a bingo, please fill out our form so that we know and include a link to a tweet or thread where we can find the fanwork you've made for your bingo. We'll share your tweet or thread and if you'd like, we'll make you a fun graphic to celebrate your bingo!7. You can make a bingo with any of these patterns:

FAQ

Q: Where do I post my fanwork?
A: Wherever you like! This can be twitter, AO3, tumblr, or any other site where your work can be viewed by others. Please feel free to post to our AO3 Collection!Q: Can I sign up for more than one card?
A: Please finish a bingo on one card before signing up for another. Provided that sign ups are still open by the time you've completed a bingo, you are more than welcome to sign up for another card!Q: I got a bingo on my card, can I keep using it?
A: Absolutely! If you've done a line bingo and want to use a different line, go for it. Please note that if your new bingo overlaps with your old bingo, you will need to create new fanworks for the overlapping squares in order for the new bingo to count. For example, if you've completed a horizontal line bingo and want to do a vertical line bingo that intersects with the horizontal line you did previously, you will need to make a new fanwork for that square.Q: I don't like the way the prompts are lined up on my bingo card. What do I do?
A: If you sign up for an individual card, the positioning of the prompts will be randomised. This can sometimes mean you get four really great prompts for a line bingo and then one prompt that might not be as great. That's why this is a challenge! Remember that you have options available to you regarding prompts when you sign up, so if there's something on the prompt list you absolutely cannot handle the thought of, there are ways for you to try and avoid it. If you do not want NSFW prompts on your bingo card at all, please make sure you let us know when you sign up.Q: How can I avoid certain types of prompts?
A: Currently, our trope list is split out into a few different categories: SFW, NSFW, New Prompts, prompts around Enmity and Breakups, and AU Prompts. You can view how these prompts are categorized here. Upon sign-up, you can either opt into one of those categories or you can choose to exclude any of those categories as well as veto up to 6 other prompts.Q: Do I need to create a standalone work per square, or can I use a square per chapter in a long fic?
A: Filling one square per chapter sounds like a lot of fun for us! Go ahead and do it, so long as the story itself is new.Q: How do I reverse this trope?
A: There's no right or wrong way to interpret a trope, so you have creative freedom to play with it.Q: What if I don't complete a bingo?
A: That's okay! We're here to have fun and encourage creativity so whether you do 4 squares or 1 or 0, we're just glad to have you and hope you have a good time.Q: I already completed a line/pattern, but I've kept going with my card--do I have to start from scratch to claim a blackout?
A: For the case of a blackout only, you're welcome to add to a previously completed pattern to complete a blackout! Consider it a reward for your dedication. Go you!Q: Does [my interpretation] of a reverse trope count?
A: Some of these tropes might be tricky, but we are 100% here for your good faith interpretation of the trope on your card, so don't hesitate to create what calls to you. If you're not sure what to do with a trope, it might help to check out our original list and see what trope it's a reverse of to get a sense of the direction the prompt may be headed!Q: What do I do with Free Space?
A: Free Space is free to use for any other prompt on our list that didn't make it to your card! You'll need to create a work to cross it off your card, but you do have the freedom to pick the prompt for the work.Q: Can I create my own pattern?
A: Yes! While we're going to stick to the bingo patterns we've listed for tracking down official completions, you can get even more creative with your cards! Create a border, combine 5 lines of prompts into one work, make a smiley face with your cards--we're sure we're missing something, but we'd love to see it all the same.Q: Can I fill a square with a work that I'm also making for another event?
A: Absolutely! If your work matches up with a prompt for another fan week or event as well as our bingo, you're more than welcome to submit the work here too!
